In 2016, a breast cancer awareness campaign between ILoveBoobies & the Cancer Association of South Africa was formed. Their mandate is to educate and perform clinical breast cancer screenings for South African women who have limited funds and access to medical facilities.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is marked in countries across the world, and helps to increase attention and support for awareness, early diagnosis, and treatment as well as palliative care for women facing this disease. The majority of women who die from breast cancer live in low and middle-income countries, where most women are diagnosed in late stages due to a variety of factors. These include limited awareness on the part of the public and health care providers, and the lack of access to timely, affordable and effective diagnosis and treatment.
As part of our partnership we donate a percentage from every mammogram we perform during the year to ILoveBoobies in the month of October. We also stock and sell ILoveBoobies merchandise at our Hilton Health branch at no markup for the benefit of ILoveBoobies. This includes socks and buffs and soon may include some of the other products as well.
